Suggestions for Improvements – Web-Based Editing
Hi Guys,
About three weeks ago, we updated to version 25.05.27002, and we must say: the new Web-Based Editing tool is fantastic.
We’ve already started encouraging our end users to try it out for creating small or personalized reports.
Congratulations to the entire TARGIT team for the continuous evolution of the platform!
We would just like to share a few improvement suggestions for the new tool. I’ll divide them into two sections: one focused on end users and the other on developers.
Developers:
Here are a few ideas that could help improve the experience for those who develop and publish dashboards for end users:
-
Allow developers to add multiple measures or dimensions at once (bulk selection).
-
Allow items to be added directly into a folder, instead of having to add them first and then drag them manually.
-
Allow bulk editing of dimension properties (editing rights), such as whether the dimension can be used in the criteria bar, if it's single selection, etc. One suggestion would be to apply these settings at the folder level.
End Users:
This section includes suggestions that impact the experience of end users. These are actually even more important than those for developers, since developers configure things once—but end users interact with the reports regularly.
-
Add a search box so users can quickly find a dimension or measure to include in their report. Currently, they need to browse manually.
-
Dimensions and measures folders should appear collapsed by default, to improve navigation and reduce visual clutter.
-
Users should be able to remove subtotals. When multiple dimensions (e.g., 7) are added, it generates 7 subtotals, which makes the report look heavy.
-
Users should be able to use user dimensions in filters, just like in standard reports. This would require adjustments both on the developer side (to enable it) and on the end user side (to apply it in filters).
Thank you for your attention.
We hope our feedback contributes to improving an already excellent platform.
Kind regards,
Tiago Felsky Silveira

Hi Tiago,
Thank you for your extensive suggestion to the web-based editing feature. I will make sure to pass it on.
The status of this post will be updated as your requests are being processed by TARGIT.
Until then, the post will remain here to gather further interest (more votes) and comments.
Best regards / Ole
Hi together,
Very good points Tiago. I would like to add a few things for Consumer Editing (CE) here:
Developers:
1. When adding Dimensions and Measures to CE, this should be individual for the elements, because some elements/criteria bar shouldn't have specific dimensions and measures. By giving individual options of dimensions and measures to objects, the risk of falsely used data can be reduced.
My suggestion would be to add this CE button to all tables:
2. "Reduce visual clutter" . The End-user and Developer only see dimensions and measures (CE enabled) in one list. Why don't we keep the folder structure from the Source Data tab or at least show the dimensions in one? That way both can have an organized view on CE enabled data.
--Edit: I wasn't aware of the function to create custom folders only for Consumer Editing. So this is not needed then
End Users:
1. A huge help for our End Users would be to let them see Descriptions for measures (and dimensions). To give them a little more information on what the measure actually shows. Because it is hard to have a clean measure name "Amount Invoice", "Gross Profit" for a crosstab and providing information like Currency, Table origin or the Calculation behind it. So I would like to have the Description of a measure accessible to the user on mouse-over.
2. I would like to support the Subtotal point of Tiago, because this is the top reason we can not use CE in some cases. Either let the End User decide to show Subtotals or not, or just disable them.
Consumer Editing is fantastic and a very helpful tool for TARGIT. With these and Tiagos adjustments it can become perfect.
Best regards
