"Select all" should be possible without search

“Select all” should be possible without having to search first in the criteria bar.
In our case, an organization may want to select all departments within the organization, and their names vary significantly. Searching for something like “A*” would therefore only display a fraction of their departments and does not help in a “Select all” context. Additionally, it is not very intuitive that you MUST perform a search before being able to select all.

I know that choosing 'nothing' is in some cases the same, but in many of our reports there is a required criteria on departments which is why choosing every single department each by each is very time consuming.

Same apply for 'Slicers' if it's not possible there as well.

  • Hi Mathilde

That's off course an absolute valid feature request which we will look into.

However, there's kind of a workaround that I use - I search for something like !asdfasdf

Exclamation mark mean different from - so this seach will find every member, and then you can just choose to select all.

  • Hi Niels.

    Thanks for looking into it.

I know there is some work-arounds, but they do not seem to be very intuitive for all kind of users that we have (on very different levels too). Also, they need to know that they HAVE to press the search-button to get the "work-around" explanations. Aaand (sorry) but that specific one that you mention is not explained there :-) So unfortunately there is no way we can deliver that information for such a broad audience that we have.

  • Hi Mathilde

I understand completely - just wanted to be sure that you knew of the workarounds :-)
