Month attribute in Data Discovery

I’ve noticed that date hierarchies are automatically generated when there is a date column in my data. Can’t I just have a month attribute (without the hierarchy)?

    I don't know if you can exclude the hierarchy? but normally I can also find the dimensions under ".raw", ex month (without the hierarchy).
