Workaround for creating a top list for columns

The pareto list is only possible to limit the number of rows to top n. If you want to limit the members in the columns, you need to use some caluclations as a workaround.

See the following example for a Top 2 list:

Step 1: Create crosstable

Step 2: Mark Top 2 Salesperson with 1

Formula:

Step 3: Hide/Show Salesperson members with the help of the caluclations #1 and #2

Step 4: change object type (or hide calculations via visibility)

  • I was able to use the fundamentals of this logic and create a top 5 list for Customers over a period of time in a bar chart. Really appreciate your insight!
