Scheduled jobs, send link instead of attachment
PDF files, especially for multi-page reports, can become large. And if they are produced and send to many recipients via batch jobs, they can put quite a load on the mail server. By sending a link instead, this load can be dramatically reduced.
Further advantage: If the linked files are stored in a repository on the TARGIT server, this can serve as a kind of backup/archive.

Good News!
This feature has been promoted for development.
Expected release date: 2025 Q2
Best regards / Ole
Do you know any other thing that i can do to reduce the load on the mail server?
I have a scheduled job that takes a lot to load and im trying to reduce the load but i can't
Hi Nathan,
You may consider using 'Scheduled publishing' instead.
Scheduled publishing does not put load on your mail server.

Hi Ole
thanks for the response
Im sorry i just said the wrong thing, its not the mail server thats crashing is the PDF file that takes a lot to generate, there something that i can do about that ?
Hi Nathan,
On my local PC I have a 30 page report that takes 45 seconds to produce.
How many pages and how long time does it take for you?
Also, which TARGIT version are you using?
BR / Ole
Hi Ole,
I have a 23 page report that takes 1 and a half minute to produce

And also my Targit version
Hi Nathan,
Since the 2022 version, we changed architecture to a so-called "Stateless" architecture. This greatly improved performance in most aspects of the TARGIT Decision Suite. However, a few areas, such as PDF printing, did not improve or even performs worse now.
The 1½ minute is slow, but still within the expected range for 23 page report.
If you look into your report design, in the Object list, you may look for 'Unused objects' and delete those. If you have many of those, you may potentially see a performance gain by deleting unused objects.

Hi Ole,
Thank you for the response, i aways look for 'Unused objects' and is not the problem, i will try to delete some things in my crosstab and reduce the load time and i think thats it, i will try to update my targit too and i may have a bit more performance than now
BR / Nathan
You are welcome, Nathan.
If any of your efforts succeed, I will be happy to know which part accounted for the most performance gain.

Great it has been added to roadmap.
In the meantime (for people waiting for the feature), I do a simple "workaround" where I have created a small dashboard (pixel 100x100) with company logo (could also be a re-creation of the company signature for instance) and use that as source for the job. In the delivery tab I have marked the embed as HTML and in the format tab chosen "PNG Image". Then I simply just put the link to the report in the mail text instead. That way i'm able to distribute the link without worrying about performance for mail server etc.

Thank you, Nicolai.
Great Idea!
No problem. The only thing is that you cant copy paste a link to the mail text.
But if you dont want to type the whole url, you have to start the configuration of the job by choosing the report you want to link to and mark the "include link in document". Close the job and re-open which will bring the link to the mail text. Then follow the steps i mentioned before.
Forgot about the step until I just tried to copy paste some text to the jobs mail text and got reminded about that part :)
