Administrative alerts

In the TARGIT Management client, in Setup and Alerts and Notifications, you can configure an email server to be used by the TARGIT server.

These setting include an option to send Administrative Alerts to specified email addresses when incidents occur on the TARGIT server.

Important Note:

  • Event logs in TARGIT software are not always categorized according to commonly expected priority levels. For example, an inability to execute a query may not necessarily be considered a critical issue in all contexts.
  • Prioritization can vary depending on perspective, use case, and underlying technical limitations, which can make consistent grouping challenging.
  • As a result, users are encouraged to take these factors into account when configuring notifications based on the event log.

Examples:

Depending on the Notification Level, the administrator will receive from Critical (few) emails to Information (many) emails.

  • Critical.
    • E.g., if a connection cannot be made to the data warehouse. "Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdConnectionException: A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running.".
    • E.g., if the server is running out of memory.
  • Errors.
    • E.g., if a user is trying to access a document in a folder that the user does not have access to.
  • Warnings.
    • E.g.,: "Connection failed to SSAS (Unspecified error). Retrying"
    • E.g.,: "No cubes found in DataService"
  • Information.
    • E.g., "ANTserver 25.5.1510.0 shutting down", "ANTserver 25.5.1510.0 starting up"
    • E.g., if Request Logging has been enabled, the information from request logging will be forwarded to administrative mails.
