[Cloud release: 2025.05.27]
[On-prem release: 2025 June]
[On-prem build: 25.05.27002]
With Web-Based Editing the Consumer user is given an opportunity to edit the content of data objects in existing dashboards and reports in the Anywhere client.
Web-Based Editing is available exclusively through Consumer Plus — our new license type for data-driven business users. If you’re a TARGIT Cloud or Subscription customer, you’ll be automatically upgraded to Consumer Plus at no cost. Perpetual/Software Maintenance Agreement customers can pay to upgrade to Consumer Plus. Contact your TARGIT Account Manager to learn more about the upgrade process.
How it works
First, the Designer user enables Web-Based Editing in a document, including which meta-data - measures, dimensions and user dimensions - the Consumer Plus users should have at their disposal when editing the document.
The Consumer Plus user will then be able to modify the content of individual crosstabs and the criteria bar while working with the document in the Anywhere client.
Prerequisites - Rights
In order for the Consumer User to be able to utilize Web-Based Editing, the Consumer user's Right's group must include the 'Consumer Plus' permissions:
In order for the Designer User to be able to configure documents for Web-Based Editing, the Designer user's Right's group must include the 'Configure document consumer editing' permission:
Limitations
Only Crosstabs and the Criteria bar can be edited by web-based editing. All other object types - bar charts, pie charts, simple tables, etc. - are excluded from web-based editing.
Designer User - configure document for Web-Based Editing
In the Designer client, while working on a document in Designer mode, you can access the Document properties from the Quick Access Toolbar (in the Designer client's upper right corner).
From the Document properties dialog, you can select which Dimensions, Measures and User Dimensions that should be available for Web-Based Editing by the Consumer user in the Anywhere client.
When you click the 'Edit' (pencil) button of one of the selected metadata items, you may configure more details about its behavior in the Anywhere client.
In the Settings tab, apart from generally enabling or disabling Web-Based Editing for this document, you may also grant Consumer user permissions for saving the document and for modifying the criteria bar.
Furthermore, you can enable/disable Web-Based Editing for each individual object in this document, as well as controlling the maximum number of dimensions and measures that may be added to the objects.
Consumer Plus User - edit criteria bar and crosstabs in the Anywhere client
When a document has been pre-configured for Web-Based Editing, the Consumer Plus user, in the Anywhere client, will now have the option to edit an object. The 'Edit' option is available from the Object Toolbar:
This will bring up an intuitive dialog where the Consumer user may re-configure the object on basis of the available metadata:
If the option for editing the Criteria bar is enabled, an 'Edit' button will be available in the Criteria bar:
Example Use Case
For example, if an Inventory Manager at a heavy equipment dealership wants to see a list of parts by branch rather than a summarized view of all branches, they can add a new crosstab to display that data in just a few clicks. Instead of sending a request and waiting days for a result, end-users can easily add or remove columns in the dashboard and save their new version of that dashboard for future use.

Comments
This is a very very big enhancement!
For a very long time, the gap between Consumers and Designers was too large. With this option, consumers get a lot of more flexibility!
Flat Tabs are not supported yet, right? I tried with a normal Tab instead of a crosstab, and the option for editing was not available.
Great Job ! Thanks.
