Email server setup for Data Discovery

To be able to send emails from your Data Discovery module, you should open the Data Discovery Settings from your Data Discovery client:

Note: These settings are only available if you have been granted Data Discovery Administrator permissions in the Rights settings in the TARGIT Management client.

When you enable email notifications, your email server can be set up with two authentication types: SMTP or MS Graph.

Note: If you are using an Exchange Online email server for your notifications, be aware that Microsoft has announced deprecation of the SMTP authentication type by September 2025. From September 2025, or before, you should use the MS Graph authentication type if your email server is an Exchange Online server.
