Object toolbar buttons

In Consumer Mode

When you hover over an object in Consumer Mode, the Object Toolbar appears in the upper-left corner of that object.

Behavior of the Object Toolbar in Consumer Mode

  • The toolbar appears when you move the cursor onto an object.
  • It disappears if the cursor remains still for one second.
  • It reappears when you move the cursor out of the object and back in.
  • It remains visible if your cursor is positioned over any toolbar button.

Info Button

Displays general information about the object—for example, source data and applied criteria.
After clicking Info, use the Data or Chart button to return to the previous view.

Maximize Button

Maximizes the selected object to fill the entire work area. This is helpful when working with dashboards containing many small objects or when you need to focus on a specific object.

When maximized, click Restore to return the object to its original position.

Show Data / Show Chart Button

For charts, Show Data displays the chart’s underlying data as a crosstab.

Click Show Chart to return to the chart view.

Collapse / Expand Buttons

If the object includes a natural multilevel hierarchy on its primary axis, you can use the Collapse (minus button) and Expand (plus button) to move up or down through the hierarchy levels.

In Designer Mode

In Designer Mode, the same buttons available in Consumer Mode are present, along with additional tools for editing and configuration.

Define Button

Opens the Define state, where you can choose measures and dimensions for the object’s axes.

After making changes, click Fetch Data to apply and display the updated data.

Properties Button

Opens the Properties dialog for charts or the Crosstab Styling dialog for crosstabs.

Border Styling Button

Opens the Border Styling dialog, where you can add borders, background colors, rounded corners, and other visual enhancements.

Remove Button

Removes the object from the current layout and places it in the Unused Objects section of the Object List.

To reinsert an object, simply double-click it in the Unused Objects list.
When saving a dashboard, you will be prompted to delete any unused objects.
