End-users that are supposed to be able to create their own TARGIT documents (analyses, reports etc.) must have access to the TARGIT Windows client.
To do an installation of the client, only, on an end-user’s PC, you may direct the end-user to this URL:
- For on-prem solutions: https://localhost:1301/install. Replace [localhost] with the server name or IP address of your server.
- For cloud solutions: https://tenant.targit.cloud:1301/install. Replace [tenant] with the tenant name of your cloud solution.
This will download the ClientInstall.exe file.
When you run the downloaded ClientInstall.exe file, it will create a TARGIT shortcut in your Start menu.
Running the newly installed TARGIT client the first time, log in to the physical machine where the TARGIT Server is installed.
Note: Replace [localhost] with the server name or IP address of your server.
After this first time login to the TARGIT Server, the end-user will now have a named TARGIT shortcut to that specific server. For convenience, it is recommended to use this shortcut for future logins.
When downloading and installing the Windows Client, in addition to installing the Designer client, you should also consider if the user should have access to managing the TARGIT Server.
During installation of the client, click the 'Options' button to enable 'User can manage server'.
If server management has been enabled, when launching the Windows client, the user will have the additional option to 'Manage Server'.
